The non-profit organisation ,“Gender Creative Kids Canada”, brings together individuals, parents, friends, professionals, family members and caregivers who have or who work with children and youth who may identify as transgender (including gender variant, gender non-conforming, transsexual, two-spirited, etc..) or who are discovering or questioning their gender identity, as well as individuals who are interested in accompanying them or getting involved. Our goals are to:
- answer questions
- share experiences
- develop and offer resources and support
- advance knowledge in various settings
- create and maintain “safe spaces”
- develop awareness of the needs of transgender children and youth
- manage donations and other contributions to continue to fulfill these goals.
We are based in Montreal but our services (for the moment) are available throughout the province of Quebec. Eventually, we will be available throughout Canada. Our volunteers are available to help you start a parent support /action group in your area. We can also visit your area, your school or your community to offer workshops and training sessions.
We currently have a parent support group which meets the 2nd Monday of every month (except in the summer) with a kids play group for children 4-14 years of age. We also offer a parent action group which meets the 4th Monday of each month. As many civic holidays occur on Monday, there will be an alternate date for those months. (example Thanksgiving and Remembrance Day)
