I am a Registered Social Worker with 12 years of experience working around issues of sexual orientation and gender identity. I specialize in adolescent mental health (depression, self-harm, suicidal thoughts), working with parents of LGBTQ youth (including parents who are struggling to understand/accept their child’s sexual orientation and/or gender identity), strengthening parent-adolescent relationships, working with families who have come together through adoption, and working with parents who are survivors of childhood violence and loss.
I am trained in multiple therapeutic modalities – the approach we take will be responsive to your unique needs and goals. I am particularly influenced by attachment-informed therapies, trauma-focused therapies, mindfulness-based therapy, and emotion-focused therapy (EFT). Since 2013 I have been pursuing certification and clinical supervision in Attachment-Focused Family Therapy (Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA), which is an evidence-based approach for working with depressed and suicidal LGBTQ youth and their families. I would be honoured to support you / your family through life’s challenges and transitions.
