GenderCreativeKids.ca, the website, provides resources for supporting and affirming gender creative kids within their families, schools and communities.
By offering information and opportunities for connection between parents and caregivers, educators, health and social service providers, researchers, activists, and children and youth across Canada, we hope to contribute towards transforming our world into a safe, affirming, and joyful place for all children.
GenderCreativeKids.ca is a joint effort between
- Gender Creative Kids Canada (a parent action group based in Montreal)
- Project 10 (an LGBTQ youth organization based in Montreal)
- PFLAG Montreal (an organization helping those who are struggling with issues of sexual orientation and gender identity)
- and the hosts of the National Workshop on Gender Creative Kids (Concordia University, October, 2012).
Initial funding for this website was generously provided by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
Please note that this website is under construction and we welcome input and suggestions as to how to improve it.
Our goal is a website that reflects a broad diversity of family formations, communities, and artistic constellations. We strongly encourage the submission of materials that are written, spoken, sung or signed in languages other than English or French.
Gender Creative Kids Canada is a non-profit volunteer run community organization, based in Montreal, initiated by a group of parents and registered in Quebec on the 29th of April 2013. In September 2013, the organization became the official webmasters of this website. Not only do our volunteers (parents and allies) run the website, they also offer support and advocacy parent groups, training to schools and other organizations, workshops and they create safe spaces for gender creative kids everywhere!
